Club Meeting.

Format is a guest speaker / presentation followed by a short meeting finishing with supper and a chat with other members.

Our guest speaker for the August monthly meeting is Scientia Professor Kaarin Anstey, Professor in the School of Psychology at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and Senior Principal Research Scientist at Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) (via a Zoom meeting).

The findings of a prognostic study she conducted with other researchers a few years ago (there was a presentation to the MGCCC at the time) suggest that there is sufficient evidence to use off-road screening tests to identify older drivers who may be unsafe. Validated off-road tests are cost effective and efficient and they could be a more cost-effective approach to manage safety among older drivers.

The research team is now looking for individuals to share their experiences and motivations for seeking information on driving safety. They are also asking for our thoughts on the useability and relevance of web resources that the team have developed. These web resources provide information and tools to support decisions about driving and ways to manage driving safety as people age.

Dr Ranmalee Eramudugolla, Research Manager at the UNSW School of Psychology, will also be at our meeting to answer questions. Information on joining the study will be provided at the meeting if you would like to take part. The involvement will include completing a short questionnaire and then participation in an online focus group.
