2013 STT 613

2013 STT 618   2014 is the 9th year of the Club’s annual Springtime Tour. Typically, our tours have 20 or so participants, involve 7-10 nights away in different areas of NSW/Victoria, with several stays of 2 or 3 nights at destinations having a variety of interesting attractions. Motels of reasonable quality and cost and with reasonably secure parking are selected, preferably with BBQ facilities, within walking distance of eateries and with a useful meeting area for the group. Participants are free to enjoy the local area as they desire, and usually do so in self-arranged small groups. Distance between stopovers is not onerous, with reasonable time to explore along the way. Flexibility is a hallmark!

Traditionally all tourists participate in a happy hour at 5.30pm each evening. This provides an opportunity for the group to chat about events of that day as well as the next. Nibbles are provided by the group but BYO drinks. On 1 or 2 nights depending on weather etc, the happy hour may be extended to a BBQ or similar – BYO drinks and meat.

Tourists usually take their MG on tour, but if that does not suit you then any other car is okay.

A pre-tour get together is usually arranged before each tour in the form of an afternoon tea at one participant’s home (bring a plate to share) where the tour is discussed and a show bag with run sheets & travel brochures for our various destinations will be handed out.

2013 STT 6102013 STT 607Often a post-tour get together including a meal occurs, again at one participant’s home, where we talk about the tour, what worked what didn’t, future tour plans, and enjoy a short slide show of the tour compiled from photographs taken during the tour.

This year a tour from 17th – 26th October is being planned to the central and lower north coast of NSW. As our plans develop we will provide information at the club’s monthly meeting, in Tappet Chatter, and, of course, here.

If you want to know more, just ask to be pointed to one of our regulars.
