Workshop and Equipment

Club Workshop

Our Club has a well-equipped under-cover service centre at Budget Storage, 25 Yallourn St Fyshwick.

It has all the basic big-tools to enable you to do repairs, service and/or clean your car in a secure area, 24/7.

Some of the workshop equipment available are:

• 3000kg four post hoist
• Electronic Wheel Balancer capable of balancing wire wheels
• Engine Crane
• Engine Stand
• Compressor
• Workbench

For access, simply contact Geoff Nickols (Club workshop custodian) on 0412299507 to arrange a time to do the work or just to have a look.

Please note that the following simple rules must be followed:

• Please be respectful of Geoff's car parked in the adjacent bay when using he hoist and/or workshop equipment.
• There must be at least two members present at all times.
• All members present are to sign the workshop log book before the commencement of any activity. By signing the log book, you are confirming that you have read and understood all relevant Operating Instructions.
• Members using the hoist are to read the Hoist Operating Instructions (here) and view the Hoist Operation video (instruction video) to familiarise themselves with operation of the hoist before proceeding to use it.
• If there is any doubt about any aspect of operating the hoist, do not proceed. Seek assistance before using the hoist.
• When using the hoist, a second member is to monitor movement of the vehicle onto and off the hoist, raising and lowering of the hoist, and alert the operator to any anomalies.
• Members are to leave the workshop in a neat and tidy condition.
• Members are to make arrangements with Geoff Nickols for locking the workshop (and store) and return of the keys. 

Club Workshop Days

The Club also holds workshop days at the service centre where knowledgeable club members and special guests cover a range of topics which are usually based on member needs. If you have burning questions about your MG (and they don't have to be on the topics of the day), or need help to do something, come along and ask, try or do.

Bring your car along and put it on the hoist and have a look at those places you don't get to see very often. Not only is this a great day, but other members often impart information from their own experiences that is not readily available in reference material. So come along I am pretty sure you won't regret it.
